The opening ceremony of the Greco-Roman women’s freestyle wrestling championship was held at the Barys arena stadium in Nur Sultan
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Berdybek Saparbayev, Minister of culture and sports Aktoty Raimkulova, the mayor of the Kazakh Altai Kulginov, President of UWW Nenad Lalovic.
About 1000 athletes from 100 countries take part in the championship. They will contest the Olympic licenses to be held in 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
The organizers of the tournament are UWW (World Wrestling), the Ministry of culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the national Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Confederation of martial arts and power sports, the Federation of Greco-Roman, freestyle and wrestling of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
