Academy’s students visited the “camp of women’s tears”

October 23, 2019 Department of Educational Work and Social Affairs organized a trip of students of the Academy in the Museum-memorial complex of victims of political repressions and totalitarianism “Akmola camp of wives of traitors to the motherland”.

The museum and memorial tells the story of female prisoners of Akmola camp wives traitors to the motherland – KarLag department, which in the last century was subordinate to the main camp management, and places of detention.

Each architectural composition of the memorial complex of the atmosphere of the life of a convict camp female prisoner. Such as “Stalin’s car”, “Arch of sorrow”, “Despair and powerlessness” speak for themselves.

Students are told that in the years of repression through the Akmola camp wives traitors stage passed 18 thousand innocents. One has only to think about it in these terrible figures and imagine – how many lives broke the flywheel of repression and hunger … They were mostly spouses of famous statesmen, politicians and public figures. And the museum and memorial complex was opened on the site of the former camp.

During the tour, members of the museum and memorial complex was told about the history of the party Alash, the establishment of the camp, his prisoner, most of whom were members of the families of representatives of the technical intelligence, diplomats, public and political figures, as well as artists 20-40 years of the last century.

After the tour took place on the documentary film “Fierce cold of Algeria”, which tells about the everyday life of the camp, about the life and heroism of its occupants.
